Senior Mechanical Engineer - Kinetic Art

The Studio

BREAKFAST is a world-renowned art collective with a reputation for conceiving, designing, and manufacturing some of the most high-tech kinetic art installations in the world. BREAKFAST’s work has found its way into various museums, lobbies, stadiums and public spaces. In the past few months, we have begun to make a stronger push into the Fine Art market.

All of our pieces have been produced with no more than 7 full-time employees, as we believe in operating as a small, nimble, and diversely-talented team. While we plan to expand incrementally, we aim to only invite the best of the best to our small table.

The Position

Whether it’s designing a more silent gear train, or a perfect mirror polished brick, we’re looking for a passionate problem solver with a drive to always push the solution just a little bit further.

BREAKFAST’s art pieces vary immensely, but the common theme is kinetics. This puts the Sr ME into focus for all our projects. The ideal candidate has a vast and broad background in mechanical engineering, anything from high volume manufacturing to working with individual fabricators for one-offs.

You’ll work closely with Design, EE and Software teams and you’ll get to see everything through from prototyping, design, production, and assembly to install. You’ll definitely get your hands dirty in this role, one day you're in a comfy office MCADing away, the next day you’re 40ft up on a scaffold installing our next piece.

As Sr Mechanical Engineer, you are expected to have a leading role in your projects. This not only means driving the project forward day-to-day, but also project planning, hold team meetings, budgeting, etc.
