Google gave us a unique task to grab the attention of high profile tech blogs for the launch of desktop voice search. In particular, they were looking to accomplish this by creating a custom product that would show off voice search in a distinct way.
Rather than creating a single product, we decided to leverage the entire amateur hardware community by creative a custom development board made specifically to work with voice search. This allowed anyone to make their own creation themselves.
Out of the box, the board could trigger a browser window to pop up on a mac and trigger the voice search prompt. Queries were then spoken into into the board itself. The board then had several input/output pins where enthusiasts could add on sensors, buttons, lights, etc to create their own custom voice search creation.
HAVE ONE, OR WANT TO MAKE ONE?:
For those who’ve gotten their hands on a board, or want to make their own, you’ll find everything you need below. If you’re after the source code for the Verbalizer Desktop App, head over to the Verbalizer Github repository.
